Treating yourself to a face mask is a nice way to relax, rejuvenate and nourish your skin. Unfortunately, most of the commercial face masks are laden with not-so-great chemicals and harsh ingredients. These all-natural masks are super easy to make and a great way to bring that spa feeling into your own home! Facial masks are beneficial because they provide concentrated nutrients to skin. Typically, they’re made from a single nourishing ingredient, like clay or honey, or a combination of ingredients depending on your skin’s needs. So, let’s start!
Honey contains varying concentrations of polyphenols, which are powerful antioxidants that counteract the effects of free radicals, and may help repair damaged tissue caused by cold weather. It also contains alpha hydroxy acids, which makes it a great gentle exfoliator. The enzymes in raw honey eat up dead skin cells and reveal your most smooth and supple skin. It also may help improve a variety of skin conditions, which makes it great for all skin types, especially sensitive and peeling prone skin.
All you need are 2 teaspoons of extra virgin coconut oil and 1.5 teaspoons of raw, unpasteurized honey.
Mix raw honey with coconut oil and apply the mixture gently across your face with your fingers using small circular strokes. Leave mask on for 10-15 minutes. Rinse off with warm water!
Avocado face masks are amongst the best natural face masks that are known for nourishing and revitalizing the skin. This fruit is packed with skin friendly minerals such as iron, calcium, potassium, copper, magnesium, etc., vitamins A, E, B and K and unsaturated fats. The healthy oils in the avocado soothe and moisturize dry or sensitive skin.
Mash up about half an avocado in a small bowl. For combination skin, add a squeeze of lemon or lime (about 1 teaspoon) and mix it together. Slather on and let your skin soak up the moisture for about 10 minutes.
Remove with warm water and a washcloth!
Rich in many active enzymes and fruit acids, pineapples have one special enzyme that is unique to them, and that’s bromelain. This enzyme will literally eat through the dead cells that are dulling your complexion and reveal fresher, newer skin. Pineapples are so amazing when applied on your skin as they act as an all in one skin exfoliator, hydrator and natural chemical peel.
Wash your pineapple thoroughly. You only need 1/4 of the pineapple, so slice off a portion from the bottom (or top, as you wish!). Now peel off the rough skin of your 1/4 portion carefully. Chop it up into smaller chunks, ready for blending! Toss your pineapple chunks into your blender and blitz away until you get a frothy puree. Scoop out 1 tablespoon of the puree into a small clean bowl. Your delicious pineapple face mask is ready!
